Diorama Idea - Captured Cat

Thank you B-17 Guy - from what I read, intact German armored vehicles were prized by the intelligence people and a high priority was placed on securing them. There was a Puma at this time and I might use its numbers, why not. Know I need to get working on the diorama. i have all the parts, now to build and assemble.

I like the idea exactly as you presented it in the first post. I say go with that. Everything you describe seems perfectly plausable to me based on my military experience.

My question, and I DON'T have the answer, is would it be a reasonable use of manpower at the time to keep souvenir hunters from a KO'd vehicle. Would it not make more sense to hit it with a 75 or 76mm shell from a Sherman? It's not like a Puma was a super secret highly advanced weapon. I'd leave out the MP and go with a sign. Maybe have one of the M8 crew approaching it and title it "curiosity." (as in Curiosity killed the cat.) Maybe eve very subtly pace a thin wire across one of the hatches or from a hatch to what would be a hidden mine.

It sounds like an exelent idea Mike.  I'm interested in it now.

With the case for the warning signs, I'm not too sure with them. All I can say is to take a look at the photos you do find, and make a call on it yourself.

The pictures of the placards I had seen showed them written in English. I might keep them, I have to think it out and see how they would look like. I believe it was a widespread practice.

I like the idea a lot, but I wouldn't add the placards. I'd say an MP would be guarding it. In case of signs - where would you take the materials to make them, then should they be written in english or in french and then would the people observe the directions on placards? If a sign is a must, maybe just go with a standard "danger mines" with scull and bones? Be sure to check the paint schemes for MP vehicles and MP's uniforms, they tend to be "different"than other vehicles/soldiers, then again not too different under fire.
