ya you could scratchbuild a godzilla out of some clay and make the b24 flying overhead and droping a nuclear bomb on top of its head and have the godzilla opening its mouth to eat the bomb. That would be cool. Or you could make a runway scene with a couple of jeeps and some guys. That would be alot less dramatic but still cool. Anyways, what scale is the liberator? If its 1/144 you could have it flying over the Atlantic like convoy duty, maybe atacking a surfaced u-boat or something, that would be awesome. You could go all out on that one.

Don't take anything that you see on here too serious, sometimes peoples thoughts just kind of drift off into LALA LAND and comeout differant than what they intended. I've been posting on these forums for months now, and I can tell you in all honesty, most everyone here and on other threads are a great bunch of folks, and very helpful. Lots of humor too. Don't get up tight about "DISREGARD", he or she probably didn't intend it the way it came out. Personnally, I think you could do a lot with a B-24 dio, I would think something like a WWII desert diorama. Reload and refueling for the next mission maybe.Smile [:)]

Check the 22nd Bomb Group's site http://www.redraiders22bg.com/
Go to the image galleries and open the Charles E. Critchfield collection and see an
interesting possibility for a B-24 diorama. Possibly the first use of drogue chutes
by a bomber. There are only 5 photos in that gallerey.

Take a look around for Shep Paine's B-24 diorama that he did-- he did it of a brightly colored formation ship-- that was kind of a neat idea I thought....

"Disreguard" was posted for my message. I posted something about a Doolottle Raid dio idea and later remembered that those were B-25s not B-24s. I wanted to delete mine, but did not see that option on the edit page. No offense ment.

do what I do poppa, build up the airframe, gear down, leave off guns ,glass, markings,I build most but not all of my older planes as last few hours in the plant before roll out. It works best on kits that are missing parts,go wild become an airplane worker.im sure you have lots of spare parts that can work.

See? No intentional malice and no harm done. Big Smile [:D]

As for your B-24 Dio idea, I've heard that on some of the shorter runways, the B-24 was a b**** to bring to a stop and so the crews tied parachutes to the waist gun support struts. when they hit the runway, the waist gunners would toss them out and pull the ripcord. maybe you could do a B-24 that just stopped using this method. Smile [:)]

I personally want to do one of the battle damaged Ploesti raiders after the battle. We had Walter Stewart who was the pilot of the "Utah Man" come out and talk about his experiences at one of our club meetings several years ago. If that don't inspire you. I also did one for a pilot who was shot down over Burma. Most of his crew evaded the Japanese with some local help. He passed away last year and his only request was to be buried with the model Angel [angel].
Are you working in 1/48, 1/72 or 1/144 (or the Combat vacuform in 1/32)? Also, which version are you building (would have to be a 'D' model for Ploesti).
