.............Masterbox models is planning a 1/35th scale C-47 (both USAAF and RAF versions) along with a Horsa glider and junker Ju-52 transport. No release date has been announced................Also some of the earlier Tamiya kits like the Land Rover SAS "pink panther/ambulance seem to be scaled closer to 1/32 then 1/35th scale. This may have been an effort to make their kits compatible with 1/32 Airfix armor kits during the seventies.

You could away switch to 1/48th scale. Lots of armor and aircraft available for that.

As stated above, mixing 1/35 vehicles with 1/32 aircraft is not an issue.  Just keep constant items such as weapons, packs, canteens, etc. in one scale (usually 1/35 since there are more 1/35 figures).  You can mix 1/32 and 1/35 figures as well, since people come in many different sizes, but gear is pretty much a standard size.

As to 1/35 helos, there are lots of them:

Academy:

US Army UH-1C in 4 different boxings with a variety of weapons configurations

US Army OH-58D

USMC AH-1W and AH-1W NTS

US Army Bell 47, USCG HTL 4 (Bell 47 w/Floats)

US Army UH-60A/L Blackhawk, US Army MH-60L DAP Blackhawk, USAF MH-60G Pavehawk,

Trumpeter:

US Army Chinook CH-47A, CH-47D

Russian MI-24 Hind D

Russian MI-4 Hound

Russian MI-8/17 HIP

SAR/Seminar:

US Army UH-1C and UH-1B

Dragon:

OH-6A, AH-6J, MD-500, MD-530

US Army UH-1D, UH-1H German SAR

USMC UH-1N

Revell also has a bunch of 1/32 helicopters that are pretty good too. These include a UH-1D/H Huey, AH-1G Cobra, OH-58A/Bell Jetranger, and a bunch of European helos to include the EC-145 which can be made into a US Army UH-72A Lakota.

I see, thanks I'll look into the 1?32 scale then.  If someone has any other info it will be much appreciated.

I think the place where the size difference might be most noticable is if you 'cross polinate' with both 1/35th and 1/32nd figures.  However, if you keep your vehicles in 35th and your aircraft in 32nd, and stay consistent with figgies, I don't think it will result in a huge, glaring mismatch.

As said above, there are few 1/35 aircraft, other than the piper cub, Storch & some harder to find Helos.

Accurate Armour do resin Lynx Helos in 1/35th

They are a friendly lot here, always willing to share the knowledge, but if you could share what you are trying to do, eg Spitfire with starter cart & Tilly, or ME266 on the back of a M26 DragonWagon.

I've seen 1/48th modular german hanger buildings freely available in .pdf format, (google it & modify to suit)

There is an approx 8% size difference between 1/32 & 1/35th. This isn't noticable provided you don't mix the same equipment in different scales. eg Italeri/Tamiya Jeeps OR REvellogram Jeep, not both.

If you are using Tamiya 1/35th figures 1/32 Aircrew or early Monogram figs, this could scale out to about 5 foot nothing-ish (Tamy) to 6'6"-ish Monogram. Key point is that guns, pouches, packs & helmets are only in one size, so use only from one scale, whatever looks best.

Flightpath do 1/72 buildings here: http://home.clara.net/djparkins/fltpath/fp72_wwii_airfield_acc.htm

Also in 1/48th & 1/32 buildings & GSU's here: http://www.djparkins.com/acatalog/1_32nd_Post_War_RAF.html

Others may know better but i would not have thought so. Its the same with 72nd scale. Theres alot of vehicles and ground support items that are actually 1/76, but the differenace is so small as to not be noticed. I admit that at 32 scale the differance is going to be a bit more, but i have seen dios done that combine the two. But i am sure if i am totally wrong somone will correct me.

That's what I was thinking of doing being that I wouldn't have a choice but Ive read around and some people say that they would have to modify the 32nd to make do with a 35 scale setup... Is this really true?

Theres not much out there in 35th. Not sure on the reasons for 32nd aircrfat but 35th armour. But if you after putting the two together then to be honest i don't think the differenace is that great and they can be combined.

1:35 scale help
Posted by CyberShadow on Saturday, January 1, 2011 1:28 AM

Hi all, well I fell back in love with my old hobby and currently trying to make a airfield diorama and already have a few models done(armor/Helicopter/figures)but ran into a rather small issue being that I cant find any 1:35 scale aircraft...... Seem to find only some in 1:32, so with that being said Im hoping someone here may lead me in the right direction with hopefully a good source of 1:35scale models.

Also as far as hangers and certain building go for a airfield is there any pre made model sets of such things or will all this have to be custom work? Sorry for the noob question but this is the first time Ill be getting into dioramas.

THANKS ALL!!!
