I like what you've done with the dio.....not crazy about the frame.  You dont need to spend big bucks for a base,  I'm using the tops off a nest of red cedar  tables.   A simple flat base with some wood to dress up the edges, and maybe painted or stained. Nothing wrong with making a frame from an old packing case, But I would have painted it and got rid of the side bits.  It lets down the rest of the good work you've done here.

Somewhat the answer to a challenge to find a use for the old cassette tape holder, it was originally built to dress up an office desk. There was a business card holder attached to it.  At the time it made sense to "contain" it within the crate.  This thing is easily 15 years old.
