One of the ways that I had read about years ago for displaying urgency in figures was to have them offset just a bit in their poses.  For instance, if you have a running figure, instead of having him be straight and plumb on the surface, have him running but put a lean into his pose instead of having him flat footed.  Just a suggestion for you to try.  Good luck!

Some good suggestions there. Though i am not sure why a SzF would be towing a gun. Maybe a standard Ausf D half track.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Urgency?

Figures in a line, jackets loosened, maybe holding toilet roll in one hand...

oh wait a minute...Smile

Study paintings. Classical sculpture. Check out how they convey motion in still form. Gesture. Posture. Momentum. Men at angles it would be impossible to maintain if standing still.

sorry for the double post, just had a thought. Assuming your talking about something like the photo below. What about having men manhandling the aircraft and a soldier in the pilots seat gesturing wildly at them to hurry.

Recite the litanies, fire up the Gellar field, a poo storm is coming Hmm

hmmm, Maybe have a couple guys aiming towards the target, and another running to help. My guess is its all in the positioning of the men.

how to display urgency
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 8:32 PM

I am doing a dio of a Stuka un-hitching a Pak40, setting it up to fire in front of a small section of farmhouse. I would like to convey a real hurried sense of urgency, as if the crew needs to get this gun set up and start firing before the oppurtunity passes. I'm just not sure how to portray the urgency....thx
