Fuel fill's on King Tigers [ Henshel ]
Posted by rudedog on Monday, February 14, 2011 4:30 PM

While starting weathering My 1st build ever of a King Tiger,I could not locat any obvious fuel fill's on the rear deck. It's the Dragon "Ardennes" KT,& I tried searching the web for Tech info to no avail. One site showed a blueprint style drawing of the critter & I could depict the tanks on the Aft insides, but it didn't expound any further.I'm assuming they are under one of the rear deck's many covers, but which.I'd appreciate the helpfull knowledge from someone.   Thanks , keith .

Have you asked the guys in the Armor section of the forum?

Many are in the know or live near museums and may be able to get you some pix.

Division 6,I did the same thing & thanks f/ trying.I took your advice & posted on "Armor". WildB came back w/ the answer. While I assumed they where  in the rear [ & they are ],apparently, the fill caps for the tanks are underneath the side rear engine grates,Which are lifted during refueling.Makes sense,In a way.But considering these beasts only had [ if I read correctly ] a 100 mile range on fuel, ya think that easy refueling would be a priority, cuz those grilles don't exactly look easy to lift. But,that's only supposition. Thanks for your effort, keith
