6pdr vignette Polish 1st Airborne Brigade

Howdy,

 Nice job. That almost looks like a kit I did as a kid (about 35 or so years ago) from I believe Italeri, minus the figures.

 Have to ask, what did you use for the vegetation? That looks great!

Thank you for the compliment.

It probably is the same kit (Italieri-Testor, usually one in the same), I just modified it into the airborne version.

From what I understand they sell directly and not through hobby shops. You cut the pieces off of a sheet. what I did with the fence was take some dried plant roots and glued the foliage to it. this way I had a trunk entering the ground. You may see one around the base of the fence post.

I really like your little vignette, it's really nice to see an old kit given new life lol.

I built the old Tamiya kit for the Vintage kit GB some time ago and its sitting in a tin waiting to be put into a little dio based on a picture I've seen.

I was able to find the 6pdr at my LHS. Someone placed their collection up for sale, I think I paid $12 for it. The figures cost me the most, double that. Its a nice little kit. Resicast has the airborne gun available in resin, but this worked out just the same, just a little more effort on my part.

Thanks both model Maniac and Stikpusher. Converting the gun to an airborne version was a challenge. Just not enough detail photo's of them.

I have the Vanguard book on British Anti-Tank Artillery (see the Amazon link below). It has a good drawing of the para version. which I based most of my conversions on.

Resicast has the Para version available for 59.50 euro's. Since I already had the old Testor's kit ($12.00) I though I would make a stab of doing the conversion since Iit was not that much.

The muzzle brake was the hardest item as the barrel makers didn't have a 6 lber with a muzzle brake. I just happen to have the Tamiya Cromwell not built and noticed the shape similarity and checked the width and it was near perfect in size even though it was on a 75mm barrel. I had already bought a replacement barrel for that kit so it was going into the spares box anyway. Just had to add the locking bolt with a little piece of plastic rod, and there it was.

Tamiya's 6 Pounder,if you can find it, is a decent starting point for a late war gun with the muzzle brake. But like I said..this is all after the fact...

Stik - the muzzle brake on the Tamiya 6 pounder doesn't look correct, unless its the photo, the front looks flat, but the para version is rounded from what I have seen. It could be tha angle of the photo.

 I had forgotten about the Tamiya 6 pounder kit.
