Cool and cheap way to simulate a fire or electrical shorts for dioramas

My wife picked up this neat little number at the local Ace Hardware.  It's an electronic tea lite candle that flickers.  Has an amber LED in it, although I could not discern the circuitry that makes it flicker.  I thought you guys would like to see it as it looks perfect for simulating campfires or battle damage type fires.  I might post this in the sci-fi section for those guys too.  They come in packs of 6 and run about $7.50 for the pack:

Here's what it looks like turned on:

Here's a shot of the innards.  The "flame" simply unscrews from the base:

Shot of the bottom of the base, containing the switch:

"Some say the alien didn't die in the crash.  It survived and drank whiskey and played poker with the locals 'til the Texas Rangers caught wind of it and shot it dead."

Interesting gadget, but may be difficult to apply in dioramas for small fire.

Impressive Songs:

I don't see a resistor in the circuit, so I may cut the LED's out and substitute in some different LED's to experiment with it a bit.  I can find LED's with longer leads to enhance fitting to a diorama from underneath, and with different colors might be able to get different effects.  LOL so much for spending time on a model today.

Could also try using optic fibers to get the light where you need it.
