Another Diorama suggestion
Posted by telsono on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 3:27 PM

I have in my stash the old Gunze-Sangyo kit of a partial crashed Bf-109G with the pilot running away from it. The vignette that this kit presents will be expanded upon to include two vehicles (I might have to make some of the damage aircraft parts as well), a Kettenkraftrad and a Pz II Luchs. All vehicles are from my stash.

The plane will be placed into the back left corner of the diorama with ample ground damage to show the skidding across the terrain. From the aircraft, the pilot is running to the Kettenkraftrad which has just turned around to face the right side of the diorama, Only the driver will be in this vehicle.

At the center front of the scene will be the Luchs. It will be turned with the left front pointing towards a "heads on" viewer. The turret will be also turned to over this corner of the vehicle as well. The tank commander is leaning out of the turret with binoculars viewing the oncoming enemy (probably Russian) ready to order the gun to fire on them or to make a hasty return to safety. The track marks on the ground should add emphasis to the siftness of the action going on.

Some of the titles I have been thinking of is "Grab and Run!" , "A Quick Pickup", or "Taxi Anyone!"

I have a couple of planeed diorama projects, one I mentioned previously of a Puma abandoned by the roadside during the dash across France with MP's (a motorcycle or two) and a M8 Greyhound watching over it for the awaited recovery vehicle.

Another one was inspired by the 229 craze on this site a few months ago. I have the 1/48 DML Dragon Horten 229. As it has alot of interior details and the wing assemblies mimic the real ones, I thought about a Watson's Wizzers approach. The Horton will be patially disasembled, with the wings to the side. A US Army truck loaded with lumber is off loading material, as crates are being created. Another aircraft, a Me-262 sits nearby with engine and gun compartments exposed, Other US vehicles (including a staff car) and German airfield equipment are scattered about the area showing the chaos of getting the war prizes ready for shipment to the US with personnel everywhere. Again, some will be MP's and I might add a M8 Greyhound or a M20 to the scene.

Now, to get my thoughts into action.
