Water - cross posted from Ships forum

i used wall plaster (crack sealer/putty stuff) to make my water shape. it was then painted and clear glossed. it was good for doing the waves/wake, etc.

Scene-a-rama products but I cant seem to locate a vendor for them. Would like to try using some over the couter products - anyone have success using easily obtainable epoxy resins ect.??

A few things.

First, Google is your friend. A search for Scene-a-rama quickly led to their site with dealer info and a US ZIP code search engine.  Loading my ZIP showed at least 8 retailers and a wholesaler within 50 miles of me. For the record, this is a subsidiary of Wodland Scenics and I've seen these kits at AC Moore.

Second, you don't give any indication where you are. Looking for help in finding a dealer for anything makes it hard on those willing to help. It does no good for me to suggest my LHS if you're on Oregon or Taiwan.

Third, if you need water with depth, Enviro-Tex is a good resin product for that. Foe larger ships, most builders use something textured like a gouache (IIRC) that is then painted to simulate water.

Do you have a local model RailRoad store?

Maybe you could pick up some woodland Scenics "Realistic Water".

They had a sample at the shop and I actually thought it was real water!
