Constructing homes and buildings for a large scale diorama
Posted by gfwilliams3 on Thursday, January 26, 2012 8:23 AM

Hi

Im new to the community. I am building a large scale dorama 7ft long 6 ft wide of the Battle for Ouistreham from the movie the Longest Day.  I have a few questions..

I am building about 15 french style  homes and a casino. I will be using foam board for all trhe construction. Can anyone tell me were I can find easy step by step instructions to build homes that will be 3 sided with a roof?

There is an river running thru the diorama. It will be abot 3 inches deep.. What supplies will I need..I was thinking chicken wire and plater of paris sheets.

There will be a roaf about 7ft long as well. I want to use a premade road but was also thinking about doing it brick by brick. Whod are the suppliers? Does anyone know how the bricks should be layed? I cant find any pics from that time period.

Thanks

First off:  Welcome to the forum!!  You will find a lot of help here plus a few jabs, take them with a fine grain os salt.

Second, do you have a local hobby shop nearby?  One that deals with railroads??  Look at Woodland Scenics products!!  They have a Great selection of useable stuff.  From building material to roads, grass, etc.  Also look at Model Railroad magazines for kits to build fronts of buildings.

Good luck and show some WIP's  (works in progress).
