I went the same way last year doing a diorama for a 1/350 scale submarine:

Used gloss paint and generous amounts of brushed on future. I think i ended up with 4 or 5 coats of it to get the shine i liked. So yes, it works great!

Need some help ,I am building a diorama of the USS John F Kennedy under way . I made the water out of celluclay,(got the idea from Fine scale modeler ) then I painted it a gloss blue. I was wondering if I can use future floor wax to give it a shine and how do I apply it.
