My First Dio in 1/700 Scale

Good first effort there! Especially when you add people. I prefer Gold Medal Model's PE people because they're only attached to the fret at the feet, which makes for easier painting and removal. And, yeah, 1/700 is kinda' small:

Great looking Dio. And people are amazed at what can be done in 72nd scale.

Is that destroyer ramming the sub? I know it happened I just find it an awesome subject for a diorama. Well executed, the water looks nice.

for future reference though I'd work on the wake, unless they're both stopped it'd be quite noticeable even at this scale, that being said it still looks excellent.

edit: I'm referring mainly to the lack of a frothy wake at front of the destroyer and the back of the submarine, everywhere else looks excellent.

Thanks guys for my first attempt I am pleased with it, but now know places that need improvment.

falschinjager I was trying to do this one from the movie "Enemy Below" Both vessles were dead in the water about 100 yards apart. The Captian of the destroyer ordered the engins ahead full to ram the sub so not much wake off the bow, I did however try and show heavy wake at the stern for engines under full power. Its one of the points of the dio I am not all that happy with.

For the crew figures I used Edgards painted photoetch, no way I was gonna try and paint any this small. They did work out well for me though, they were connected at the head and feet to the fret but were easily cut from it because the connections were very fine almost couldnt see them. All I had to do was drag a hobby knife over them. NOw I will say bending them into a sitting possition for the life boats was , well trying

Ah now that you explain it you actually pulled it off quite well, please ignore my previous nitpick I was just offering advice when you knew more about what was going on and how it should work than I did.

No worries falschimjager I will take your advise for then next one for sure. I have a second sub that will be sinking a freighter.
