US 709th Tank Battalion, 1945.

This scene is a depiction of my Grandfathers unit, 709th Tank Bat. after capturing a German held village in 1945. Soviet forces moved in shortly after demanding the hand over of German POW's and the village itself.

The building is scratch built using Popsicle sticks, Tamiya brick wall set, scrap clear plastic for window glass, and a multitude of other bits and pieces. Figures are a splash of Verlinden, and Tamiya. Sherman Tank is also Tamiya. Tank hatch handles, door handles are made from staples I had sitting around.

The lamp on the table is completely made from scratch, I used very thin copper wire for the cord and plug. Leather bits on ammo pouches, helmet straps, etc, are paper stock, with thin copper wire for the metal parts. The chair is also scratch built from toothpicks and Popsicle sticks as well.

The Table is scratch built, including German flag, and Beer Stein. The Foam from the beer is made from superglue. The German flag has a coffee stain on it just like the real one my Grandpa brought back, yes his crew used it as a table cloth.

I hope you all enjoy.
