MiG 23 complete
Posted by Bish on Monday, May 28, 2012 2:58 PM

Heres another pretty simple Dio i have just finished. This is the 72nd scale hasegawa MiG 23 i built for the swing wing GB. This is the old kit with raised panel lines. I added a small eduard PE set and painted with Xtracolour enamels. The PE chocks and ladder are from flghtpath. The pilot figure is the only warsaw pact one on the Dio, being a resin CMK figure. The other 3 are  Esci and Hasegawa NATO figures. I don't know much about Soviet ground crew uniforms and couldn't find much info. So i simple painted them a coulour that seemed right.

Thanks for looking.

Nicely done Bish! The tone on your camo looks spot-on to me.

Great looking MiG bish! I think in Egyptian and Syrian markings the MiG looks it's best.

She looks great!Yes  And the balding pilot figure is a nice realistic touch too I like it. I can recall quit a few Marine pilots with a simular hair loss problem.

Thanks guys.

vance, xtracolour does a range of warsaw pact colours. I think two i used were designed for Cezch MiG 23's. One of the colours had to be lightened a bit. I used the few colour photos and plates i have to hand and i think it came out pretty well.

Panzer, i agree, they have some nice scheme. But i am commited to building all my MiGs in Soviet markings. But who knows, one day i might just do another in something difefrent.

Shooter, ye, i rather liked that. Out of the 3 pilot figures in the set he was the best one suited to the scene. The bald head made it even better as it was somthign you don't see on many figures. The 3 figures also have an oriental look. I just thought it was the box art, but yoiu can make it out on the figures as well. So i guess this guy would be from the far east of the Soviet Union.
