I really like it! If you could please post some low angle side views of this beautiful diorama, I would be much obliged.

Cool! Thanks, I was wondering how you did the water-spouts. Very clever!

 & msfob

Here's how I made the explosions

make a mold

then I used insulation foam sealent

spray it in a container

spread on mold

and there you have it the mold can be ant size but make sure that the mold has arms extending from the middle

Yes for the water and the explosions.spray, looking good so far. I'm going to attempt something similar though in a far smaller scale, 1/700, so have a question - how did you get the spray to tower up so nice and tall and, well, spray-like?

Sadly the pictures are a bit dark. But dont get me wrong please, Im struggling with picture quality as well and that doesnt mean I want to degrade this diorama at all. So... How did you do that larger explosions btw? Thats a thing I always hesitated to recreate in my dioramas!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Lucas.

Looks great. I have a PBY Catalina Black Cat (it's in the hunting after dark group build) in 48 scale that I started a Diorama for but haven't finished. After i finish a few other projects, I'll have to get it out again.

Nice work so far. I have never attempted a water scene but this is coming along fantastic. I have seen water that blue in a lot of tourist photo's taken in the Philippines, Thailand etc so it may be suitable. We look forward to seeing the boat loaded up!

Gamera

Your right. I haven't painted the inside of the lagoon yet just laid down some blue paint. I intend to lighten the water and then put on Vallejo water gel.

Thanks

Looks great to me so far: great idea and nice exercution. I love the explosions.

Only question I have is should the water be that blue close to shore? I'd think water that shallow would be greener. Then again I've never been the south pacific so I'm not really sure - just asking.

Mac, I have no doubt that problems spring up during your efforts. But the final results are beautiful to see.

I LOVE the concept. Doing those water impacts is really a bold move. But I would suggest putting the Higgins boat a little lower in the water. I know that one laden down with troops and supplies it should probably ride lower and with edge of the reef being a good 3 feet below and then dropping off into deep water, there would be no softly sloping beach underneath to support it so high out of the water.

Model Maniac

Your WIP looks OK, but your image are too small.

The images show up on my screen the exact same size and the ones you usually post.

Really, you come on here and bash a guy for his photography skills.  Get a life.  I know all you do is take pics of of your purcgased models.  Go actually build a model and don't worry about his photos.

It is looking great so far.  The water plume looks really nice.  I will be interested to see what figures you use.  Keep up the good work.
