Old Tamiya Ford GPA

I picked this up on ebay several years back and finally put it together with a few addtions. The molded vent screens were cut off and replaced with pe ones. I used the inside of chrome lined potato chip bags as material for mirrors and headlight reflectors. I used my MicroMark mini punch to fabricate out disks for the rear view mirror and headlights. I drilled and hollowed the headlight bodies, then glued the chrome disk inside. The clear lens was then glued on and actually looks like a real headlight. I scratched out a fence made from cofee stirring sticks then painted it with craft acrylics. Made the Thompson and Garand slings from wine bottle foil. Made canvass seat covers out of tissue paper dipped in Elmers glue, then painted khaki. Added some equiptment from my spares box and tinted a piece of rope with watered down craft acrylic paint and white glue then coiled it around the headlights. The gas can strap is thin masking tape painted khaki and the buckle mas made from very thin copper wire. The base is an old picture frame that I salvaged from the trash. The ground work is a sheet of packing foam cut to fit, a mix of Elmers glue, craft acrylics and water was painted on heavy. Crushed and finelly grounded kitty litter was sprinkled on the wet mixture along with Woodland Scenics blended coarse turf and dirt. Some added vegetation are dried flowers from the craft store. The Ford GPA was painted with Testors Olive enamel and weathered with oil washes and MMP powders. The Village sign will be familiar to those who watched a WWII Naval comedy show in the mid 1960"s.
