I have done a few tarmac bases, but not a wet one yet. Those sound like a few good ideas irish, think I might have to try those.

Phil, what are you planning on using for the tarmac.

For adding photo's, you need a hosting site, such as photobucket. Once they are loaded on there, you need to use the rich formatting link and then you can post the photo's.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Depends on how wet you want things, I saw a great 1/35 diorama where the modeler simulated droplets of fresh rain on armor, the effect looked real and was a great change - completed the model as normal, then did the fresh "droplets" by flicking a toothbrush with future floor resin on it - if you want a wet sheen , same thing, just use an airbrush with future in it ( no need to thin it).  If you want it soaking wet, I would recommend straight clear gloss through an airbrush, thinned with airbrush thinner - just be careful spraying your coat, as the thinner might attack your paint you used on the Tarmac / aircraft.  good luck!

Hi all. My first attempt at a diorama will be an Airfix 1/72 Lancaster on a wet tarmac apron. The aeroplane was LS-J Jig of XV Squadron. The photo I have of the crew has my father-in-law in it. I plan to do this for my wife. The photo was taken when Jig was about to fly her 100th sortie. She will need a bit of weathering. The photo was taken in December 1944. Cold, wet and snowy.

Any help on doing an appropriate wet tarmac would be greatly appreciated.

Ps. If I knew how to add a photo I would have done so to help explain the look.

Cheers,

 Phill
