No exact ratio.  Just thin it so it is easier to spread.  I have used it stright out of the bottle too.  The key is to get an even coating of glue.

I use 25% glue to 75% water. I put it into a dropper bottle (e.g. contact lens cleaning solution) and apply it drip wise over the dirt to be fixed. It will look like a mess when wet, but it will be fine when it has dried out.

I do about 50/50 or thinner like vespa boy and also dribble it on the dirt after I've already put the dirt where i want it. I also put a little rinse aid into the mix so the glue won't bead up on top of the dirt. Works great.

How do you keep a "wet look" to the dirt? use a darker dirt?

When I used white glue and dirt the glue dried gloss and showed through the dirt and did indeed have a wet look. However, I wanted a dry look. I found that Woodland scenic white glue will dry flat.

Maybe a clear semigloss/gloss spray?

i guess if the dirt is damp when sprayed then it would seal in the moisture as well...experiment time...lol
