Dimensions/Middle Eastern Home's
Posted by jayjay82 on Thursday, March 6, 2014 8:26 AM

Hey everyone.

So i am looking to build a simple middle eastern home in 1/35 scale.

I have an idea of what i am going to do i am just trying to pick anyone's brain who may have served in a middle eastern country or has traveled to that area of the world.  I am trying to get an idea of just how big a simple "country" home in this part of the world is so i can get the scale as accurate as possible.  I'm not looking for square footage or anything =) Just maybe how high the ceilings, roofs are.  that kind of thing.

ANY information on this subject is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance everyone, have a great day =)

If nothing else, this should give you an idea of overall shape and size, if all else fails, buy the kit.

Hi jayjay82, I have worked in the Middle-East for some time, and the houses range differently like in the U.S. Just an idea, houses there are more square or rectangular like, less pointed roof, so all you see in the façade would be a square or rectangular shapes. Khaki, tan, white are the usual colors, there usually is sand on the front door or gate due to sand storms on occasions. Oh yeh, palm trees are abundant, so you could add that to the interior of a court yard or in front of a home.

so here are some I found from the net for you, for some ideas;

Rain comes once a year over there so you would see less water marks on the buildings. Some buildings have a rough finish, if not plaster is on cement blocks.

Buildings above are Saudi, but the basic architectural design is shared almost all throughout the Middle-East.

Hope this helps you.
