Thanks mitsdude... I used silicone on the top and bottom but not the sides. the glass is thin and i did not want to see silicone on the edge, i thought about adding a corner piece to hide the edge but it took away from the diorama. i smoothed the glass edges  a bit with some emery cloth

Nice! Your idea definitely has some possibilities.

Where the glass panes meet on the corners are they just sitting there or did you use an adhesive like silicon?

Here is a photo of the display case i made using 4 frames purchased at Michels. the frames cost $3 each and i used 4 frames. very easy to make .2 frames for the top and bottom. full piece of glass for the top and front , 2 cut pieces for the sides and the fiber board backs were used to the bottom and back. used a simple hand held glass cutter ,$6 and change. i'm pretty pleased with the results
