Well, that was stupid of me

I poured a layer of Envirotex Lite resin into my diorama this morning. It had been setting about 7 hrs when I got the bright idea to touch it to see how done it was. Yeah, big mistake. Now I have a fingerprint right there.

So, anyone know how to fix a fingerprint in Envirotex resin? Can I get away with putting down a new pour? Or maybe sand it down a bit, then do a new pour? What say you?

Thanks!

  Fat finger Chris

I can't answer your question, but had to chime in with my surprise that you are human and make a mistake now and then.

Wouldn't have guessed that from your results I see here, Chris.

Be interested to hear what the solution is.

Ha! That old 3 foot rule I use when I photograph my models must have them all fooled!  LOL

Thanks, Greg. I'm gonna let it cure overnight and take another look tomorrow. See what replies show up here in the meantime.

Heh, get a load of this:

Before I went to bed last night, I checked the piece again. The fingerprint was completely gone, and the surface was flawless. I'm guessing the resin must still have been liquid enough in that the texture from the fingerprint settled into the resin and disappeared. Whew!

Nice to know at least there is some hope if another modeler does this.

And, next time I'll use a toothpick to test the cure rate. LOL.

That's a surprise. A pleasant one, though.

Glad it worked out for you.

LOL. Did you poke it to make sure it was really gone? I can laugh because that's what I would've foolishly done.

Yep. If the toothpick comes out clean, the resin's done!   Hahahaha!
