Moose 15

Another thing you can get through GreatModels as suggested above is airfield tarmac made by Custom Dioramics. It comes in two sizes. 8 1/2 x 11 ($4.75) and 11 x 17 (7.15)Smile [:)]

Moose15,
Using real concrete won't work due to the heavy texture. It will not look to scale.

Heres what i would do for the concrete.... Pour the real stuff in a small form and let cure overnight and then weather as you please..Thats how i would do it anywayMy 2 cents [2c]

It is unfortunate, but ajlafleche is right. AFV makes the only kit out there of this vehicle. Can you say there is a gross lack of representation of support vehicles?
Hobbycraft used to make one, but it was a very basic kit. Even as such, you will have a very hard time finding that one.

You can get tools and tool boxes in Italeri's Field Tool Shop accesory set. here is a photo of some of the contents.

WWII mechanics will probably work too since modern ones wear a simmilar set of coveralls, you could replace the hat with a camo BDU cap.

For the concrete, pour your own. This can be done by coloring plaser of paris with a concrete colored water based paint as you mix it, then weather and stain appropriotly once set. Another option is to use poster board, painted concrete color and scribe the separation lines and color them in with black paint to represent tar or whatever they are separated with. This is the same method I have used for airfield tarmac. It works pretty well. That is what I did here:

AFV has the only M88 full kits an ADV) has the A2 update. All of these are available at http://www.greatmodels.com . O2 and acetyline tanks are on the 88 and you can get spares with Tamiya's modern equipment set, the older one, at least. Mechanics...try a search at http://www.redlacer.com.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Military Motorpool Dio Help
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 8, 2004 10:00 AM
Hiya,

I'm about to begin my next big project and i'm starting to realize that i'm not sure where to find half of what I need. I'm going to create a Dio of a scene inside a mechanized motorpool. 1/35 scale. It's basically going to be an M88 pulling the engine pack out of an M1A1 or A2. I've already got the M1and the M1 engine kit.
Where can I find a decently priced M88 kit?? Seems these are hard to come by.
Where can I find a set of modern military mechanics? All I can find are the WW2 ones.
Where might I come up with some Motorpool acceccories like toolboxes and oxy-acetelyne tanks?
And last but not least, how should I go about making the concrete groundwork of a motorpool? I've read a few tips on creating aircraft tarmacs, but it seems like all the methods are kinda cheap.
This is my first attempt at creating an urban setting. I've become pretty adept at creating rural outdoorsy scenes and consider myself to be an average modeler.
If any one of you very knowledgeable people out there can give me a clue.
Then your time will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for any and all help! Happy Modeling!!!
