Retreat diorama - 1/72 scale
Posted by Rato Marczak on Saturday, March 26, 2016 9:29 AM

This is where my 'Retreat' 1/72 scale diorama is now. It will include a Famo (published at FSM last year), a Kanone and a Sd.Kfz.253, all done. As you can see, most of the groundwork is done, but I'm chickening to paint 20+ 1/72 troops...
Still missing smaller details. Hope you like it.

Tell me what you think...

Cheers

I really like that, it will be interesting to see how it looks with the vehciles and figures in place. Are those larger clumps of grass the ready made tufts, i have been weary about useing those in this scale in case they are to big. Did you make the tree yourself or is that bought.

Thanks guys.

Yes, I'll keep you posted, but I have not even started to work on the figures.
Bish, you are right, it is difficult to find a grass tuft of the right size in 1/72. I use to choose the smallest ones I find in the commercial packages. Trimming them is an option. Sometimes I just put a droplet of glue and sprinkle some grass on it. Works too, but not visually so interesting.

I normally sprinkle on my own, which i find fine for airfield dio's, but as you say, not as interesting. I do have a selection of those tufts and i know the small ones you mean. Lok forwrad to seeing more of this.

Great work. Interesting the way it is now.

Reading your list of additional vehicles, it'll be interesting to see that blocked out. I wonder if there's one too many?

But great looking so far, and sharp photos.

Yeah it's a little hard to tell without the vehicles and figures added but looks great so far!

The basework is amazing. Way to go!

As for painting 20+ troops, don't fret it. I odn't worry about it, especially in this scale. Then agfain, I have painted over 1800+ so...

Looking forward to seeing more.

OH My !

I do wish I could do it as well .This is one of my failures .I can't make a dio ,even without figures and vehicles look that good !  If It's water and nasty, Oh , yes that's do-able ! T.B.
