The Navy vehicles I was referring to as being white, are the standard vehicles that are assigned to the bases and shipyards. I didn't quite understand what you were referring to at first but now I do. Thank you, I will check out the stuff that they have at Little Creek though. I remember when all the Navy's vehicles were gray and the Air Force's vehicles were blue. I think that it's just cheaper for them to get them painted white.

I just think I might. My son is stationed on an amphib out of there and could probably show me around. Thanks!

Hi Subfixer;
If you are in Hampton Roads take a ride over to Little Creek... Navy Amphib Base, The Seabees have several vehicles all painted in various ways. Some are sand some are Euorp. Camo and others are O.D. It seems that they really have no "Standard finish"..
It's a modellers bonanza or nightmare depending on the modeller.

Those are beautiful vehicles by the way. I really didn't think anyone did the navy softskins. I think I might just have to try some myself. Nowadays, the Navy only has white vehicles.

Most US Navy vehicles I have seen from that era were painted a medium grey with the words "US NAVY" and a ID Number underneath it.
The middle truck in the below picture is a Navy GMC 2 1/2 ton CCKW.

And a 3/4 ton Dodge panel truck;
A Chevrolet 1.5 Ton Cargo truck:
A couple of Navy Jeeps

Those should give you enough referances. Good luck.

I'm not sure if this is the place for this threadConfused [%-)] But seeing that I am building a diorama and this truck is part of it here we goSmile [:)]

I need to know what or where I can find the colors the Navy painted their vehicles and the markings on themQuestion [?] It is a flat bed six wheel government issue truck from the early 1950s.

Thanks
Richard
