Beach sand is OK, just be sure to sift the little critters out of it first. It also depends on the coarseness of your local sand, I have seen some pretty ugly sand in my time. Sandbox sand will work, too, just be careful that you don't scoop up any cat droppings.

Thanx for the tip.When you said fine sand,could i use sand from the beach?

Aces High,

One thing you might try is mixing up a batch of very fine sand along with a 50 - 50 mixture of white glue and water. Spread it on a board or a piece of styrofoam and sculpt it to the shape you are looking for.
