CELTIC TWILIGHT
Posted by Harrytheheid on Saturday, November 12, 2016 6:17 AM

This is a small diorama I built at the beginning of April earlier this year.

The basic scenario shows Boudicca and her closest Captains on the Eve of Battle looking out on the Roman Legions building their defensive camp for the night. Given the overwhelming odds in favor of the Allied Tribes, the Queen of the Icini is confident of victory, little suspecting that by this time tomorrow the Celtic Culture in what would later become East Anglia will be wiped out. Hence the Title of the diorama.

Perhaps there might be some comfort in the knowledge that although her kingdom shall be consigned to history -- she'll be remembered down the ages.

All figures are 75mm and painted in acrylics from various manufacturers; Vallejo, Andrea, Scale75, Tamiya, etc. The sun rays in the first snap was a sheer accident, but works well.

Well, now that I seem to have sorted out how to post images, here's a few more snaps of the diorama:-

Oh, that's a really nice one - and a subject you don't see often here! I like the colours of it a lot, and the lighting is also very clever! Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

Thanks Guys, I'm glad you like it. Our conservatory, which I use as my hobby room, is on the roof of our building and the sunlight can be pretty strong, especially in the mornings. The "light effects" on these photos were obtained by pure accident and I didn't realize it until I got them up on the computer screen. They do work pretty well though....Smile

That's fantastic! Great job on the figures, the groundwork, and the atmosphere really works. Yes

Glad you guys like this one.

Most of the 75mm figures are from Pegaso, although I think a Masterclass and an Alexandros Models examples may have sneaked in there as well.

(Reminder to me -- drag yourself away from weathering up those WW2 Jeeps and Nam M151's....and get a few more photo's posted up).

Cheers
