I think I remember years and years back seeing a photo of a diorama of an Israeli fighter flying over a crashing enemy plane he's shot down in a big canyon. Wish I could find it again, it was pretty darn cool.

I am not a diorama guy but think I might have a go with this one. You can get a topo map of this famous canyon on the net to get the shape and relief of it, Use plaster of paris and screen like the model train guys make mountains. Air brush all the different color layers of the rock in. But the model jet of choice IMHO has to be that F15 in knife edge flight going through the cayon mounted on a maybe memory wire.

Being down on the deck is so much more fun than drilling holes in clouds! Back in the late '70s, I had the opportunity to be in the back seat of a P-51 flying up the Indian River in Brevard County! We were in a finger-four formation of three P-51s and a P-40. I think we left a rooster tail.
