So Starting In December I'm Starting A Iwo Jima Sherman Diorama.And Was Wondering What Pigments I Should Use.I know It Was Volcanic Ash But There Was Light Sand Colors.If You Guys Have Any Idea Of What Pigments Or Texture Products I Can Use It Would Be Grateful.

I knew a gentleman years back that landed on Iwo as a young Marine. He even wrote a short bio about it which I have. The most interesting thing I found with talking to him about it was that he had a jar filled with sand from the beach at Iwo. What struck me was that it wasn't sand in the traditional sense, but rather larger crushed up lava rocks. He told me that the beach really had no sand but was made up of destroyed lava from all the shelling that had occured during the pounding the Navy gave the island before the assault. So it was large granuals that were clearly lava in nature and jet black. No other textures or colors were present. He stated that is all he remembered it being like. Very other worldly. Hope that helps.

Like this kind of light sand color would is there a pigment or diorama texture i can get for this type of sand or something close

You've got to be awfully careful using digitally colorized photos as reference materials. A lot of the colors are subjective and open to artistic interpretations.

The link below takes you to a WW2 era documentary that was shot at Iwo Jima during the battle on color Kodachrome stock, so there was never a need for an artist to color the images. The sand shown in the footage is pretty distinctive. Have a look...

Just do an image search for modern day Iwo Jima pics. I did it before typing this and found lots of stuff that should help you
