This is a little something I have been working on and off for the past few months.  its just a mock up of the key players, but its well on its way!

Well!

Being an ex - Mariner I never thought I would say it. Where can I get a Kraken like that !

I see so many possibilities for that critter!

The Kraken was a reaper Minatures piece, intended for table top gaming....that is such an unnoticed aspect of fantasy modeling!

....that is such an unnoticed aspect of fantasy modeling!

And fanstasy modeling in general!  It has changed and gotten better and better over the years.  Although I do not dabble in the genre, a good friend is always working on some fiendish looking beast, including those from Reaper Miniatures.  I am always amazed at the fidelity of detail possible in modern figures.

In the 1970s, gaming minis were made of lead and were dumpy looking.  When plastic kits appeared, they were also mostly dumpy and were poorly molded to boot.

Because of my friend, I get to see the latest plastic fantasy kits, which are incredible in detail and fit.  Lots of guys slag Games Workshop (probably for their business model) but their plastic kits are crazy good.  Model Graphix magazine in Japan has even started covering GW kit news.  Here is one example from the 2018 IPMS National Convention.

BTW, I saw a built up model of that Kraken, also at the 2018 IPMS Nats, and it was one of my favorite entries.

Good luck on your project, and I look forward to seeing more pics!

Ah!

Thank You for the info. I can probably find it at a Gaming shop and center close to me. They certainly fulfilled my start for Steam-Punk with the "World of Warhammer, World of Ragnorok" Weird but fun!

TB,

I think Reaper Miniatures is a kick starter business, where people crowd fund potential projects.  When the funding reaches a target amount, the figure gets made.  I don't know if they can be bought after the production run.  Others will know more.

But yeah, that Kraken kicks butt!

Ah, I thought I'd seen the figure before. I've got one in my miniatures stash unpainted.

Looks like it's still available:

There's a few critters that could be used a kraken on their site:
