My first decent diorama
Posted by Kitwrecker on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 4:59 PM

Hi guys this is my first diorama that turned out well. It's a 1/32 scale Revell Mustang and a 1/32 scale Airfix bamboo hut with 1/35 ICM Imperial Japanese soldiers and 1/35 US Marines Tamiya I think I can't remember. I made this in 2019. This was a present for a kid of a friends friend, he loves world war 2 and history in general and wanted a diorama with a crashed plane and US Marines taking a Japanese position. The Mustang is an old Revell kit its git raised rivets etc. I basically hacked the wings off and used plasticard to make broken internals it's all artistic licence and I cut the flaps and repositioned them and sprayed the plane with Alclad 2 and a whole host of colours to make it look burned and shot up a first I never made a crashed plane before. The Bamboo hut was a first for me as well I used different browns and greens to make the hut look like it's got algae and all sorts on it. For the ground I used woodland scenic and plastic plants for a fish tank with resin for the water. I'm happy with how it turned out and it took about 2 months to make and was a lot of fun.

Some of the images are during the build the white patches on the water are wet modge podge it's the stuff that makes the resin look like the water has ripples.

This is a mid build photo without figures and water or plants. I used a few rocks from the back yard I found as well.
