The History Channel in association with Life Magazine released a 60th aniversary, commemerative issue of Life Magazine and excerpts from issue from June 12, 1944 to August 21, 1944.
On page 15, a two page spread from the June 12, 1944 issue is an absolutely awsome diorama of the invasion of the North Sea Coast. (Holland)
The diorama is by model builder Norman Bel Geddes. Including landing craft, aircraft laying down smoke screens, quays, buildings and convoys off the beach. I highly reccomend that you guys take a gander and see some real artwork. There is no mention of scale but regardless, I have yet to see its equal.
The rest of this magazine is loaded with some great photo documentation from the pages of Life from this time period. Enough to spawn diorama ideas to keep you busy for years to come.
