Typically, a vignette is a display of figures in action without vehicles and the story line is very tight. like this:

While a diorams tells a bigger story, like this:

I think you mean (har word to spell here) Vignett - heres how it sounds (vinyett)
Dios are bigger,usually consist of a model or two with figures.
(vinyett) are smaller and have only a few figures with some scenery.
