What do you do?
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, June 18, 2004 10:13 AM
Hey all in the dio forum! Cool [8D] I had a question about woodland scenics lichen. I'm doing a dio of normandy for the normandy GB and I'm making mild hedgrows with that stuff (being carful not to clump it) but I was wondering how should I secure that stuff to it's base? I used white glue, but it would be great to have something more perminant. I also have hobbytac, but that drys glossy. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks everyone!Cool [8D]

Ryan,

If you ar using just lichen use white glue on the base cover it with lichen so no glue shows as it will dry glossy also. I have been using white glue to do such things and have no problem with it being perminant. If you use something to simulate shrubs or small trees depending on the material the base is made of you can drill holes to stick the branch in or you can glue pins or small nails to the bottom of the stick and mount it that way.

I had the same quistion thanks .
But I experimented anyway .I am putting my jadgtiger in a hedgerow setting, I used white glue and tiny nails in the base to hold up the lichen, and plan on useing static grass around the area of glue. For the mostpart the lichen covers the glue.

For larger clumps , I use a hot glue gun with clear sticks .

White glue works for me. Some of it will show after fixing the lichen but you need to airbrush the lower portion of the plants with darker colors or earth anyway to add more realism so the shine will be covered.
