Posted by rebelreenactor on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 12:19 AM
Hi guys,
Here is My contribution the the #2 Weekend GB. The Kuble is from academy's WWII ground vehicles set as are the accesorries. the stretcher is from a revell JU-55 and the figs are from a Preiser German Luftwaffa set. ( I have a lot of airplane stuff![:0]Disapprove [V]) The base on the dio is Plaster of Paris and and some Static Grass. Finished it all in 3 days, including the dio.
Comments and Critisism Welcome, Please.
P.S. Sorry for those Blurry pics.
(DIO FORUM) MOST OF THE DIO PICS ARE SET AS LINKS.)

Oh, and the Title of the Dio is BROTHERS, 3 brothers 1 from the luftwaffa and another who drives the Kuble and the other just a ??? dont know yet) getting their picture taken to send home While a battle hardend friend watches.

Nice looking dio, John.

I like your subject matter, and the figure placement/pose is excellent.

Ah, the Preiser Luftwaffe figures! I remember getting them some 25+ years ago, some neat items. Nice work.
Couple thoughts.
I'd tone down the blood on the stretcher, it's kind of bright and glossy, unless they just unloaded a casualty, and your story doesn't imply that. I'd choose a falt reddish brown, instead.
Your photographer appears to have some flash (no pun intendedBig Smile [:D]) in his arm pits.
Lastly, the guy in the green uniform does not look to be in tropical dress. Here's a like to some DAK uniforms: http://cosmos.oninetspeed.pt/dak/dak/uniforms.htm

Thanks for the comments guys.

ajlafleche, If i tried to get the flash out of his armpits, (i got most of it) I would have damaged his arms or body, I don't have the experience. The guy in the green uniform, I did a bit of research and in the early days of the Afrika Korps that would be a correct uniform. They would later be changed. But then I guess that it wouldnt match the heavily weathered Kuble. Oh well, no biigie in my opinion.
THanks for being honest and your input, it means a lot to me.
THanks,
John

Great work on those tiny figures and Kubelwagon!
I am painting some 1/72 Preiser figures now and I now know that working in this scale is not so easy.

If all we ever say to each other is how good each other's work is, we'll never grow. I try to offer fair and objective comments. One thing that is always good is to have fresh eyes look at a subject. I also try to avoid comments on personal style, i.e., how I LIKE a model painted/built as opposed to technical constructive criticism.
I'm glad you accepted the comments in the spirit they were given.
