Bounty launch diorama

Fellow modelers,

Updated images of my Bounty launch diorama can be found at:

I am now working on an abstract, "breaking wave" base that will accentuate the dynamic nature of the moment I am trying to capture. The figures are nearly finished, needing only some touch-up painting and facial details (which I consider the most difficult and have been saving until last).

Awesome build man!! love the way all the figures are posed, its like ur watchin the actual crew on the launch. can't wait to see it with painted faces and on a base. BTW what r the sails mae of, he figures, heck the whole dang thing for that matter!!?

The sails are machine-sewn unbleached muslin, with some-hand-sewing to secure the rope around the edge. Thin wires are embedded in the seams to hold the shape. The hull was carved from basswood, with fittings of basswood, pine, and maple. The figures are sculpted from polymer clay. The faces will be done in a "minimalist" way, with just a hint of brows, eyes, mouth, etc. The emphasis is on the assemblage of figures in the crowded boat, not individual crew members.

That's cool! I'm just reading this new book about the Mutiny on the Bounty and my oh my, it does give a different version of the facts than the ones portayed in the two movies!

I'm in the mood for a tall ship.. I wonder if Airfix's Bounty is still around and if it's worth anything at all!?

The launch and the figures look fantastic! I remember your posts when you were sculpting the figures, but now the forum shows that you only have two posts.

That was you posting a few months ago on scupting the figures, right?
