Custom clear acrylic cases; Who sells them?
Posted by djrost_2000 on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 10:29 PM
Finishing up a U-boat model, and wondering where I can order a custom-built clear acrylic case, or any custom clear case. Does anyone know any makers of custom-built clear cases?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave;

Pg. 76 of October 2004 FSM has a company named FULL VIEW DISPLAYS with a web address www.fvdisplays.com that may work for you depending on the scale and length.

Check through the back issues for advertisers in FSM there was a company that always advertised there but the name of which escapes me right now and they made custom acrylic display cases all shapes and sizes.

Another option is do it yourself and I think FSM ran an article on how to make them. Check the FSM Magazine Index. Or check with a local trophy shop and see if they can refer you to someone.

I hope this helps some. If I find more concrete information I will post it on discovery.

Cheers;

Gregory

Dave;

I entered "display case" "models" into MSN Search and came up with this company in Youngstown, Ohio. They have an online form for custom display cases. www.carneyplastics.com

I've had several display cases built by the below listed firm and can highly recommend them. The prices are reasonable and they definitely know how to pack their product so that it arrives in perfect condition.

Something you may want to consider is that the cost of having custom-made cases (especially those large enough to hold the U-Boat) can add up in short time. There are often companies around that sell second-hand store fixtures such as display cases at reasonable prices. Just takes a little elbow grease to get them looking new again. It's worked for me.
