resin diorama base tips
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, September 10, 2004 7:35 AM
Okay, even though I haven't finished my knocked-out hetzer diorama, I just received the Verlinden Resin Base "Railroad Crossing" where I am going to do an EAST-MEETS-WEST scene with Russians and Americans..... It will be my first use of a resin base, so my MAIN question is after I prime the base, should I wash it first (with raw umber) before I start painting it and then wash it AGAIN afterwards???? any other tips for resin bases you guys could give me would be great...........

Never used a resin base, but unless you needed pre-shading, I can't see the use of a wash prior the painting..?

Sign - Ditto [#ditto] I can't see any reason to color wash before painting. Pre-shading sure, if you want to, but I find washes and filters help blend the colors together after painting.

tankergeoff,
i'm wondering if there is some confusion with the term "wash"...perhaps you've read were washing the resin before painting is a good idea, except for in this case it means to clean with soap and water, instead of wash with diluted paint.

would love to see some pics of the hetzer dio.
