Hue City Offensive
Posted by TigerII on Saturday, September 25, 2004 4:30 PM
This was my first attempt at making a diorama. The tank is a Tamiya M48A3 that is providing cover to US Marines as they advance on the Citadel in Hue City during the 1968 Tet Offensive. I got the idea from a pic in the book The U.S. Marine Corps Story. Some figures from Tamiya's Assault Team had to be modified to look like Vietnam era Marines, and I used Airborne Cavalry figures from Dragon for the other figures. I hope you like it and comments are welcome.

Tiger II, I wish my first dio had been that interesting! Your figures are all in
great position. It's a good action scene. I like it. One think you may want to condider for the future though is NOT to put your road, walls and vehicle parallel to the edges of the base. It just makes things much more interesting to the eye when it's not .

Looking forward to seeing diorama #2.

Yeah, what's already been said. Everything looks pretty good, you did some nice conversion work on those figures. If you've got some more pics, let's see them.
A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm; every meal is a banquet, every paycheck a fortune, every formation a parade... The Marine Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah...The Men's Department.

Looks good! The posing and placement of the figures are well done, too. I hope you can post pics of the dio from other perspectives, too.

Hey All,

I know some of you wanted to see more of the M48 tank in this dio. So here are some pics. I'm a little envious of the new posts here. I'm in the process of getting ready to move so I'm in limbo now. I can't wait to start on my next project. Well I hope you like the pics.

Tiger-looks great-very reminescent (sp?) of newsreels I've seen. But as mentioned above add some brick 'crumbs' and dust and you'll have a super piece. Remember-a model is never finished.

Great dio, man. I would add some track sag on that Patton, tho. The figures look really good. Nice job.
