A very sad story indeed. The circumstances were very interesting though.
I as well have not seen a model of the LBG, besides the dio by Shep Paine, who built his out of the very same kit that this one is. The dio as well looks very similar, and I would probably not be mistaken if I assumed the builder also took an influence from Mr. Paine's work.

This was an incredible story. I read about it in jr. high, back in 1964. It was hard to understand how it all could have happened. Tragic about the loss of life.

Great diorama though.

it was a sad story. the plane was on its first mission i believe, and the crew turned around from its mission and accidentally flew hundreds of miles over the lybian desert, far out from their base near the meditterranean coast. they had an incrediable story of survival. lasted about 12 days out there before they finally sucombed to the elements. so far they've recovered the plane and 8(?) of the 9(?) crewmen. the last is still out there somewhere....

What a sad story that was! All those brave men perishing in the Libiyan desert - some of them made it quite a distance from the plane looking for help. Sad Story.

I was surfing the web and I found this photo of a B-24D Liberator in 1/48 modeled as the Lady Be Good. I think this is r4eally neat and I dont know of anyone who has made another LBG besides Shepard Paine. I also heard a while ago that someone was working on the LBG and I was wondering if it was theres I think it was Vintage Aircraft who was posting progress reports, but I havent seen any posts from him for months.
