Big Sammy,
I can't seem to view the pics from the website. I would love to see the final results because I was deployed to Al Jaber back in 2002 for Southern Watch and Enduring Freedom as a maintenance officer. I was with an A-10 unit out of Davis Monthan in Arizona. If you can, e-mail them to me, I can let you know anymore you might like about the location (as long as it is not classified). Love the A-10 and hope to go back to it someday.

Thanks for the input and questions. I used "rice" bulbs I bought from my local model store. I soldered wires to extend them to a jack which I bought from Radio Shack, and had inserted it into the base. I used a transformer from a telephone I bought at at garage sale (free!!) The light boxes are made of painted paper, with the lens made out of the clear plastic insert from a chocolate chip cookie bag (Chips Ahoy!) The light standards are made of painted straws! The scratchbuilding was really fun and I learned a lot!!! Thanks again.

Good job. Althought the details of the A-10 are less visible the "night" effect is very good. Overall...a great job.

The chain link fence is screen off of one of the windows in my house (my wife doesn't know yet!!). It is glued onto sprue, and the coil wire (which I'm not really happy with) is from a coiled notebook. Thanks for the input!

Here's a pic of my latest...an RCAF F-18 in Tiger Meet paint scheme!!

Yes, that's right.....1/48 scale. I researched online and believe that the A-10 was used at the base I tried to depict (Al Jabbar) in Kuwait for Operation Southern Watch. Now, as I research more, I'm not sure the cammo was correct, but I was trying to make a desert diorama first, authenticity second!!
Thanks for the comment!!!!
