Help with Idea
Posted by Tankmaster7 on Sunday, December 19, 2004 9:15 PM
I want to build a diorama for my 1/72 fw-190 a8. something rather simple as this is my first diorama. please include what materials i will need and where to get them. online preferably. thanks. (i was thinking maybe a simple airfield, but what buildings/vehicles should i include? i am open to other suggestions other than an airfield.) Tanky.

My Idea: Have the plane in a dirt air field where some mechanics are working on it ?

If the kit is finished I would go for an airshow display or similar.

There you can get away with a strip of dirt/grass, roped of area, etc.
This type of dio can also be extended later on to include more kits.

OK, I got mny idea. (it's neither of the above entirely. sorry) I am going to have a luftwaffe runway (what were these made of, and what materials to replicate?) with snow covered grass on either side. (for depth I want some celluclay, but where's a good online store for it?) the fw-190 will be ona tarmacto the left of a hangar. (how should i scratch build this hangar? it's going to be only big enough to fit one plane.) The plane will have ground equipment around it. (who makes good luftwaffe ground equipment sets? verlinden, perhaps?) with mechanics. (who makes luftwaffe ground crew?)

Have the Fw in an open airfield with some short grass and a few low shrubs, you can then include a flak gun, Whirlwind or or 8 ton with Flak both available from Hasegawa (good kits only need minor changes}. The whirlwind was particularly used in 44 in winter. Hanger would be hard, what about a tool shed. Made from balsa and styrene.
Ground crew, airfix have a good german cround crew set.
Hope that helps.
