Yes cutting up your dio will work if you know exactly how you want to do it. about 15 years ago I did my first dio of a battle during the Nepoleonic Wars. It was of 1/72 scale and it was huge!!! I cut my base of plywood into 4 sections and it worked out really well. Its probably easier to do it that way. Good luck with everything.

The origianal Idea was to have it split up into quaters. But afterI did somethinking last night, I realized it was going to take forever, and after what ajlafleche said I think when I had it planned larger, I was somewhat losing the main concept. So I decided to trim it down and take out several elements that were not necessary.

The them is going to be the 2nd SS preparing for battle in Normandy, they will be loading up and checking the maps.

thanks for your input guys!

He could make multiple hedgerows and divide into like quarters or something
You could make the whole thing a giant hedgerow so its easier to divide!

As someone who's been judging for over 20 years, let me say you will need to be excelptionally creative and good to hide the kind of seam you're talking about and remain competitive. To be honest, I've rarely seen a large dio like that which has maintained it's theme, there's either too much going on and/or elements fail to mesh into the story.
In any case, good luck with it and post pics when you get a chance.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

i think this would be easier to post a drawring of the layout....cuz i doubt that ur hedgerow is gonna split the entire dio in half...

So I Was wondering if I could somehow cut it into pieces, and then when at the competetion put it together like a puzzle. Think this would work? Or would it leave ugly seam linesOr maybe there is a way to cover up the lines? The dio will have a hedgrow so, maybe uder there. What do you guys think?

jinithith thinks you should bring anextra bag of hedgegrow(?) just in case the seamlines appear, that way, u cna cover it up

The Great Scale Modelling cover photo diorama said that it can be split into parts. I imagine that is what you want to do?
You could cut the hedgerow in half, put the seem under there like you said
What is the setting for the dio?

Yeah, it would. I see it often done for wargaming tables.

There will be seams, but they could be hidden by a good Dio design, etc.
