First of all Great build, the Hummer looks excellent, nice detail inside. I only have one question....what took you so long

What I'm trying to say is, perhaps the netting or whatever that is he's wearing for camouflage may be just a tad out of scale.

Other than that, a great build and a great diorama!

I live in The Woodlands. Dave at Hobby Island asked me and my buddy to call ahead before we come in due to the last time we went we spent @ $400 between us! !

The ghillie suit is fairly large however, I think it works ok. I have made one before and in the process there was one method I found that uses burlap twisted almost like dredlocks! Maybe that is what he was doing? lol

Thanks for the offer, Skar, but I have the number and all. When I told him how far I had driven to get there, he gave me a business card and told me to just e-mail in advance before I make the drive again, so that he could make sure he had what I needed in stock (how many merchants will tell you that??) I had a great experience there...I guess I'm luck it's not right around the corner, I'd end up divorced!

Anyhow, back on topic...what did you use for the ghillie suits, Scorn?

Good job Scorn, although a couple of the pics look too dark, the rest look great! Luv the Hummer, and great groundwork, along with the building. A very well balanced dio. Well done!

For a first go this has some excellent ideas. I love the mass camo on the trooper (and will probably nick that idea)
One criticism though, those photo's just do no justice to such a great scene.
Looks like your having lighting problems. What are you using?

The ghillie is made of gauze, my standard camo netting. These pictures are just the initial start. My photo area is pretty crappy with only one light bulb and the flash on my camera. Working on it though. Better ones will follow I promise.

The hummer is an old Trumpeter re-released by Hobbycraft as part of their OIF series. They are cheap being the best I can say for them. The wheels really stink on them. All the frame work and turret ring are scratch- built off of some pictures of Israeli Patrol Hummers. The Barret M82A1 is also scratchbuilt. I didn't find out until after posting that Dragon makes this weapon available as part of a figure set.... DOH!

The hardest part of this for me was the figures. I really am not happy with the faces and I painted them about 5 times each and finally just stepped away from it.

After reviewing the pictures I think I used too much rock in the open areas of the scene though, but hey, now I know better for next time right?

Ground work is Celluclay and the walls are foamboard covered with spakling putty.

Photo 1 is now looking excellent, with the right background you would think it was a real event.

Outstanding job. The vehicle and the figure went well with the whole setting.

If you're asking me, mine is the same kit as his! The kit is sold from HOBBY CRAFT and is just a re-box of an old Trumpeter kit. If I were you though, I would buy the Tamiya hummer though... because I hated building mine, eventhough it tuned out great, the fit problems were catastrophic!!

Oh. I thought he found a kit of the Patrol Hummer. Mine is the reboxed Trumpeter too. I agree on the fit. But I sure got a work out ! I actually prefer the Academy hummer. More varients I believe and CRAZY CHEAP! The only ones I know of besides Tamiya that got the wheels right.

I love the Hummer, but in what service it should be? I noticed that sniper is carring Dragunov SVD, also there is a M82A1 Barret on the ground and according to my knowledge these things normally don't go together. Or am i wrong

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) use all of these weapons as part of their sniper teams. Including M24s, and Mausers. Even today.
