Sorry Guys for the late reply, been under the weather.

QUOTE: Skar, your first effort is too good to dissasemble why not add what you now know and upgrade it with new paint on the building, new groundcover etc. Seems logical to upgrade than to rip apart your first. This is something that I have also done in the past,
mind you all of my first efforts were destroyed back in the 80s so none of those were ever redone. Very nice work Skar, even back when!

Now thats a good idea I did not think of...Thanks for the comments y'all I really appreciate it. One thing I have noticed with the old builds, is that the dust on the armor if not cleaned off good looks like a nice faded and sun beaten paint job...Hummm go figure.Smile [:)]

That is absolutely up to the individual. This is YOUR hobby, so do what you want to do!

Nice dio, by the way.

Great work for a 15 year old & it's held up very well. I wouldn't have the heart to tear it up if it were me. We need reminders of our youth.

That's an awesome first dio! You've come a long way, but you started off with a bang...

On the subject of recycling...I just don't think I could do it. It's hard for me to let go of something with that much time invested in it. On the other hand, if time/circumstances/kids/pets take their toll and it reaches the point where dismantling is easier than restoring, I'll go for it.

A great early build! I wish I had pics of some of my first dioramas for you guys to laugh at check out.

Thanks guys,

zokissima, that's what I'm talking about, the figures and building and MAYBE the tank are for sure reuseable but I have no boarder. You can't really tell from this angle but the ground work is pretty bad. And not to mention I bought the building 15 years ago and have not seen one like it since. It's a Verlinden and the detail on it is great. Anyways thanks for the replies.

Hey, that's a pretty great job for a first dio.
Personally, I love a nostalgic feeling. I'd just feel weird tearing into something like that. However, for the most part, I've gone back and tore apart some of my earlier builds in a generous donation to my spares box, so yeah, if you get a good idea that would be ideal for the building, use it.

Too good for a first dio. I don't think mine was half as good.

MY 1st dio. 15 years Ago...
Posted by Anonymous on Friday, February 11, 2005 2:13 AM
That's right were going back in time. I dusted off this oldie and waited for the sun to come out. And after 5 days of waiting and another dusting it came out. So I ran out and took some pictures.

This is the 1st dio. I did some 15 years ago. I was about 15 years old. I keep around to remind myself of what I have learned. Everytime I think of reusing the building and making a new dio with it I can't. But one day I will have to, the building is just to nice and I could do so much more with it.

SO, I ask YOU the modeling community should I and we in general recycle our old Dio's and make newer greater layouts or just hold on to them?

O'yeah heres the pix.
