brick building question

I'm not sure about the brick size, but you could always try going down to a home depot or other hardware store chain. Thry will probably have bricks you could measure, then divide it by whatever scale your dio is. Good luck. And post some pictures!

custom dioramics makes some 1/35 bricks that you could use as a measurment. But it would probaly work if you did it by how it looked and carved as you went along.

for staining, not quite sure what you mean on the 2nd question. Try painting it with primer, then white paint, and then give it some oil washes of burt sienna or burnt umber and black for a worn look. For a non blown up building, I'd use a light gray wash.
you can also buy scale wall paper.

I do alot of my own brick scribing for my buildings, I kind of just wing it, but I do use a rough measurement as a guide. 2mm wide x 4mm long should work, hell I usually end up with different sizes, so it's not going to really matter too much.

As for the interior, go with whatever your imagination comes up with. If you want to do a plaster look for the interior, try using an off white color, say a Antique White craft paint, then do some dark washes, and pastels, etc.
If you go the wallpaper route, there are downloadable designs, or you can buy some. I buy some photograph album scrap paper sets, and use them. A word of caution. (And I found this out the hard way) if you use a paper product, I wouldn't add a wash to it, I did and lost all of my designs! I would go with straight pastels in this area.

I'm measuring a 1:35 scale brick from the Tamiya brick wall set,I get 2mm.tall,8mm.wide.

The building is not attached to the base yet, and also I am going to repaint it after the bricks are carved, but you get the idea of what it will look like. The white walls (inside view) are going to look like plaster, and i havent decided whether the building was bombed or just collapsed. I thought it would be fun to do part of the interior not burnt. I cut balsa floor joists and floorboards. They are broken on the ends and i still need to stain them too, but I dont know what color to use to make them look weathered.
