Lighting Structures?

Thanks for all the suggestion guy’s. I think I know what to look for. I will be lighting a 1/48th scale aircraft hanger. I want to be able to take a picture that looks like a plane is in “natural” lighting of a hanger. Hopefully I will be ready to show you the picture in August, the rest of the details are top secret.

I personally use white leds' because I can stain these any color,and don't produce heat like incandescents do and will last a very long time.I guess its more a question of what your trying to light and how hard it is to replace,thats another reason I choose led's as you can build these inside your models,I will still use some incandescents on certain projects,namely the ones I can get to if a bulb blows!

Micro-Mark has tiny lights for model RR, 1/8" X 3/8", 100 for $40.00, you can get red, green, clear, and amber, but you can probably get them cheaper somewhere else (eBay?) Maybe this'll help.

"Realistic Animation, Lighting & Sound" published by Kalmbach Books has several how-to articles on lighting structures and touches on incandescent, LED, neon, and fiber optics. While oriented to model railroading it might give you ideas. Given your location, it's available in the Clackamas County Library system - I know because I have it checked out right now. Maybe you can arrange an inter-library loan...

Agree with the above. You can also try Radio Shack. They usually have all sorts of small bulbs and LEDs along with resistors and all the needed supplies.

Get over to the railroad sectio of the hobby store. There should be plenty of suppplies and books to keep you busy and happy.
