A vignette study
Posted by sasd on Friday, February 18, 2005 8:17 AM
This was my test vignette,a study on using brown washes on desert subjects,
and matching the colourings of the figures and vehicle to the desert surroundings. Turned out I wasn`t entirely sold on the brown wash for the vehicle, thought it was too light. This was done quite a few years back so remembering where the figures came from is as much a mystery to me as it will be to you all.The ac is of course from Tamiya and the ruin is foam.Sand is from Micheals. This is exactly what I would reccommend to a young beginner
just getting into the hobby!

As always, superb work!
I think the brown wash worked just fine.
As did the cat litter!

A perfect type of vig for a beginner, not like my "Small" dios I do...LOL Did you liberate that vehicle for your current project, or was that a different vehicle? I htink the figures are the Tamiya Afrika Korps set, they look like the ones I have. Nice build Russ!

Well the brown wash looks outstanding on the figures. Sometimes I over weather my figures and the brown wash is a great way to prevent that. As far as using it on the A/C, it gives it a subtle weathering WHICH looks just fine. But know how you love to weather your builts I can see why you would not like it. But I like it...
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks a million guys, the figures don`t match the Tamiya set that you gave me last night at coffee Kelly,ya know, upon studying them I think they might be Airfix Multi-pose Afrika Korps figs,I could be wrong but the detail matches from what I remember.
