M4 Display
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, April 11, 2005 9:18 PM
Well Folks here's my finished Sherman M4 Dio. It's not as good as I had hoped, but I am learning and trying to get better for the next.

You comments and criticisms are appreciated.

The Sherman is Tamiya's M4 Early, with:
Eduard PE,
Verlinden Stowage
Scratchbuilt stowage
Plusmodels Bucket
AFV club's Suspension
And Verlinden's 50 Cal.

The dio consists of a bunch of peas, wooden flag stones, a fountain (I can't remember the maker's name and I threw the box away), Stay dry rubble, spent water jet sand, scraps of wood from my ship building days, Red Star Water effect, and a ton of oil paint.

Thanks for looking,

Ted

Well you did an outstanding job and the weathering is great. I think the water fountain is a Custom Dioramics kit??? I think.

Thanks for the show.

Most excellent work Ted,a lot of patient effort on the split-pea cobbles, well worth it I might add! I can`t help thinking there`s more to be added to this in maybe figures.
Very nice build!

Thanks for the comments. I agree I need to add some figures, and I have them built and ready to paint, I am just skeered of themBig Smile [:D]. Perhaps in the future I will add them.

Again, y'all have been more than kind. Especially considering some of the works I have seen you guys post here.

Way to go tediam. From the previous post, with all those shiny peas, it turned out into a beautiful finished product. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry Erad, not much of a photographer, or modeller for that matter!!!Black Eye [B)]

Zokissma, Thanks, that was a lotta peasBig Smile [:D]

I also renamed the thread, learned it was a display, not a dio, no story. Live and learn.

Great diorama, Ted!
Sure, it tells a story! Who said otherwise?
Not every story is blatant or in-your-face. At the very least, I see the story "Sherman at war, somewhere in Europe." My mind can fill in the rest. I don't need to be spoon-fed everything!
I believe that the instant you place a model on something other than a bare piece of wood, you are telling a story. Actually, just a model by itself can be a story, if you think about it.

Anyway, that's all for another topic, I suppose.
UPDATE: I found the other thread, and responded accordingly.

This is a great diorama, Ted! Excellent job with the peas and running water.
