Latest dio- What lurks beyond
Posted by rebelreenactor on Monday, May 30, 2005 3:20 AM
well, here is my latest dio. It took best of show at the last Hobby town contest. The base was made in about 12 hrs. I used some oregano leaves on the tree and some other spices on the hedge. The ground is tree moss, the middle of the hedge is lichen, and the middle of the tree is WS poly fiber. The base of the tree (trunk etc) was Woodland scenics too, one of those flat ones that you have to bend. Camo on the PaK 40 was hand painted. Well, let me know what you think.

Wow.. seriously thick vegetation you have there. I like the camo.. it looks much like a leopard. No offence though. Nice job!

Excellent idea and execution is well done, foliage is very good. If I may make a suggestion,a wash of black/brown on the gun and figures to tone down the crispness of the paint and bring it all together. A little dusting with pastels will fix up that annoying flash sheen on your figures. Great job Rebel, keep em coming!

thanks guys. kelly zak, I kinda got the idea from band of brothers, especially the camo.
sasd, thanks for the tips, I gave them a wash, but perhaps it was too light? I give them some pastels too. thanks!

wow, congrats on the win there john. the dio looks great! like the oregano leaved tree and bushes. im guessing Normandy right? NEways...
my suggestion for this, add a heavier wash, if youve got one one already, and a bit more dry-brushing, or howeever you weather your pieces. and pick up a can of flatner too, there's a little sheen off of the figs.

Thanks for the comments guys!
The shine on the figs is my lighting, except for the helmets. My figs helemets ALWAYS come out glossyBanged Head [banghead]. I think I have a solution though. As for the weathering, I think I went through a "clean" armor bulding stage. Several of my builds from a little while ago are factory new.
I agree, some drybrushing would deffinetly look good on thos bolts.

Cool foilage.

How did you get the leaves to clump together?

is it glued onto something else or is it just a big ball o' oregano?Big Smile [:D]
